I am a passionate dog trainer with extensive experience working as an animal shelter volunteer, pet foster parent as well as working with private clients. After many years of training and working with shelter and rescue dogs, I started my own dog training service.My commitment is to force-free positive reinforcement training because it is humane, based on solid behavioral and learning science, fun for dog and human, and, most critically, very effective to develop desirable behaviors. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA.) In 2013 I earned my Professional Dog Trainer Certification from the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA CTP), which is the founding and leading authority on positive reinforcement and clicker-based training. I'm a graduate of the Puppy Start Right Instructors Course. Additionally, I’ve attended training programs in dog behavior and body language, lead handling and walking skills, kennel enrichment, aggression and counter conditioning, fear and BAT (Behavioral Adjustment Training), therapy dog visitation program, Clicker Training, TagTeach and microchipping. I am an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship evaluator. I work with private clients, focusing on their specific priorities and challenges with customized training plans.

I have ten years experience working with dogs, and their people, suffering from behavioral issues. My areas of specialization are dogs that are fearful or making aggression displays. I will work with these dogs with, and without, a bite history. because so much of aggression in dogs is routed in fear, my goal is to help these dogs develop confidence and recognize that the world is not such a scary place after all. To do this it's critical to help the dog's people learn how to recognize when their dog is becoming uncomfortable and how to diffuse the situation. I work with all dogs using the Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) techniques and work to instill trust in both dog and their people.
