I am a passionate dog trainer with extensive experience working as an animal shelter volunteer, pet foster parent as well as working with private clients. After many years of training and working with shelter and rescue dogs, I started my own dog training service.My commitment is to force-free positive reinforcement training because it is humane, based on solid behavioral and learning science, fun for dog and human, and, most critically, very effective to develop desirable behaviors. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA.) In 2013 I earned my Professional Dog Trainer Certification from the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA CTP), which is the founding and leading authority on positive reinforcement and clicker-based training. I'm a graduate of the Puppy Start Right Instructors Course. Additionally, I’ve attended training programs in dog behavior and body language, lead handling and walking skills, kennel enrichment, aggression and counter conditioning, fear and BAT (Behavioral Adjustment Training), therapy dog visitation program, Clicker Training, TagTeach and microchipping. I am an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship evaluator. I work with private clients, focusing on their specific priorities and challenges with customized training plans.

To us that means putting in the work that needs to be done to train dogs in obedience and exposing them to different situations. Our goal is to adopt dogs that are well balanced and ready for a home that will be compatible with their unique personality. BPR is the first shelter in Winnipeg to house-train dogs before they are given up for adoption. This requires a lot of work from our staff, but it is worth all the time knowing that these dogs will stay with one family for their entire life.
